Below you will find frequently asked questions
The induction coil within the module induces heat directly into the bottom of the cookware, just like a conventional induction cooktop. The cookware, with the surface protector, is positioned directly on the cooktop. |
We recommend cookware with round bottoms. When using other shapes, a perfect heat distribution cannot be assured. Sandwich and multi-layer style cookware is the best for performance and heat distribution. We do not recommend thin enamelled cookware for The Essential Induction. For the medium module (CU 421 100) cookware from Ø 10cm to Ø 21cm is recommended and for the large module (CU 428 100) cookware from Ø 15cm to Ø 28cm is recommended. |
Unfortunately Home Connect and Hob-Hood Control are not available with The Essential Induction. |
The Essential Induction can be combined with all 12 mm Dekton worktops in a wide variety of different colours and finishes, apart from 'Halo' and 'Dunna'. For further information, please contact your local representative. |
Only Dekton worktops with 12 mm thickness can be used. The Essential Induction is not approved for use with other materials or thicknesses. Using other materials or thicknesses may not be safe, or operate or perform well. The manufacturer shall assume no liability for malfunctions or damage resulting from incorrect installation. |
Unfortunately no additional cut-outs are allowed in one Dekton piece, however further cut-outs (e.g. for a sink) can be made to an additional Dekton piece which can then be joined onto the original. |
Gaggenau recommends that The Essential Induction is combined with the Gaggenau ceiling ventilation solutions; Vario ceiling ventilation 400 series (AC 400) or ceiling ventilation 200 series (AC 250). Downdraft ventilation cannot be used, as additional cut-outs in the same worktop piece are not allowed and minimum distances do not allow for efficient performance. |
Installation is done by the professional kitchen installer, just as with any other Gaggenau appliances. The electrical connection is done by a qualified electrician. The worktop material is pre-fabricated by one of the recommended fabricators. |
The induction modules are installed under the worktop via a housing system that is affixed to the underside of the worktop. The Installation Instruction, Installation Checklist and animated Video can be found here. |
A hole needs to be drilled in the centre of the cooking area and cooking zone markings need to be etched. The fabrication of the Dekton is done by local fabricators, for a list of recommended fabricators please contact your local representative. Dekton fabricators should refer to the Specification sheet “Marking and drilling protocol for Gaggenau Induction” by Cosentino. |
The cooking zone markings shows where to place the pot and where residual heat can occur. The markings are mandatory, if they are not etched, this might invalidate the warranty (e.g. claims regarding bad heat distribution cannot be accepted). |
The appliance, including modules, control knobs, surface protector, installation kit, is ordered via the Gaggenau dealer following the usual ordering process. In the Models & Dimensions, one can find example combinations with all necessary parts to order. The worktop is ordered via one of the recommended Dekton fabricators, following the normal ordering process for fabricated worktops. For a list of recommended fabricators please contact your local representative. |
